singing in the valleys

This weekend I travelled to the Welsh west coast, to the town of Machynlleth, which is the home of a wonderful music festival directed by Julius Drake. Pianist Yu Su and I took part in a masterclass with Julius and artist in residence 2011 Michael Chance.

The small slate-clad valley town is surrounded by tall pine woods and heather-carpeted hills. I left with my bag full of Welsh tea, hand-knitted socks and welshcakes.
