Last show of the season

Cycling in across the cobbles to my final show of the season, I am met by this billboard, and smile at the night to come.

I have had the most enjoyable summer working on the youth opera Der Struwwelpeter with a plethora of talented young people. Seeing their excitement through the rehearsal period, and on to the sell-out shows, has reminded me how lucky those of us in this profession are.

And now to the summer holidays (all theatres are closed in Germany in August, so I'm off to Greece), and then to next season, when I have Orlofsky, Hänsel and Maddalena to look forward to.
