Hänsel und Gretel - First Night

Christmas can't be far away, as I don this red wig to play the naughty sweet-toothed Hänsel in Humperdinck's much-loved opera of 1893.

The Kassel production has been going for many years now, and as a revival cast we have only a few days rehearsal to fit ourselves into the action, whilst the wardrobe department hurriedly rework the existing costumes to fit us. It is an exciting experience, and singing my first Hänsel in German in Germany is a dream come true.
